HOW IT WORKS
During a designated Entertainment Zone event, guests 21+ can purchase an alcoholic beverage from participating restaurants or eateries and enjoy their drink outside, all while taking in views of the Bay, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and of course, the world-famous sea lions!
In order to take a beverage outside of the restaurant or eatery and enjoy it around The PIER, the drink will be poured into a compostable cup and a wristband will be applied. Alcoholic beverages may be consumed only in the designated Entertainment Zone area. Entertainment Zone boundaries will be clearly marked with signage. No alcoholic beverages will be permitted past these points.

What is an Entertainment Zone?
San Francisco’s Entertainment Zones are areas where bars, restaurants, wineries, and breweries can sell alcoholic drinks to-go during certain hours. People can enjoy their drinks outdoors in plazas, sidewalks, or streets while experiencing creative programming like live music. These zones can support local businesses, spur economic development, and create a festive neighborhood atmosphere.
When can I purchase a to-go drink?
To-go beverages may only be purchased at participating PIER 39 businesses during activated Entertainment Zone events. A list of participating businesses is posted on the event page. To-go beverages will be distributed in approved compostable cups and can not leave the PIER 39 premises.
Where can I take my to-go drink?
Purchased beverages can be taken anywhere outside at PIER 39 within the Entertainment Zone boundaries, which will be clearly marked with signage. Drinks can be brought back into the business from which they were purchased, but should NOT be brought into other businesses.
Can I bring in my own drinks?
Under no circumstances is outside alcohol to be brought onto the premises.
Must be 21+ to purchase and consume alcohol at PIER 39. Events, offers, and activities are subject to change.
